According to the official guidelines, an au pair is a girl between the ages of 18 and 25 years, who temporarily lives with a host family within the framework of a cultural exchange.

She takes care of the children and does some light household chores around the house, in exchange for pocket money, board and lodging. The au pair must get the opportunity to follow a language course and to get to know the culture and to meet other au pairs or go to museums or visit interesting points of interests of the European countries.
As an au pair you will come and live with a Dutch family for a year and assist them for a maximum of 30 hours a week. In Belgium this is 20 hours a week. You will communicate with your host family about the hours and days that you are expected to work and which duties are expected of you.
The chores of an au pair could be:
- Taking care of the children
- Playing with the children
- Baby-sitting
- Cooking simple meals
- Light household chores
The term Au pair comes from the French language and literally means "on equal foot". An Au pair must be taken as a member of the family and be considered to take part in family matters. An au pair is therefore neither a cheap housemaid nor a professional nanny! However having an au pair in the house is for many busy households in Europe the perfect solution and a great way to get to know other cultures, languages and meet new friends!
The au pairs are provided with:

Matching procedure and departure
At the same time, our affiliate partner in The Netherlands, YES au pair BV, will contact suitable host families in The Netherlands and Belgium. YES au pair places hundreds of au pairs yearly with carefully selected host families. When it's a match, we will help you with your paperwork and make sure that you get your Au pair visa from the Dutch embassy.
You need to legalize your original birth certificate at the Dutch Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
After the visa is approved, we will organise your flight.
If you prefer to be placed in the USA, our exclusive partner Cultural Care au pair will find you a host family. We will assist you with the paper work and the visa.
Before you depart the country, you need to deposit a cash bond which is compulsory and totally refundable. When you have finished your contract and have complied with all the rules and regulations, you will receive your cash bond back in full. This is to protect the host families who are spending thousands of euros to make this program possible for you. Please feel free to contact us to know more about these payments.
Once you are in The Netherlands, you'll be invited to attend NAPO get-togethers, trip to Paris and Disneyland and parties.
In the USA you will take part in monthly meetings with the Local Childcare Coordinator.
